July 14th (2025) we again made the trek up to Salmon Glacier via Hyder, Alaska.
The drive took an hour each way, slowly navigating the potholes with our VW Atlas, and using 2nd or 3rd gear to slow us on the way down. There are no guard rails.
After taking a couple shots for Ron at Zachary Pet Supply back home, where I get Abby’s food (Fromms), we took a walk on the wild side. Other times I’d been here the focus was primarily on the glacier itself.
This time however, after simply enjoying the view from a picnic table for a while and having a few snacks with our friend Austin who happened to drive up in his jeep, we climbed up into the sub alpine environment behind the parking area.

Yes, some people ship their adventure vehicles overseas, as in both of the above photographs.
